sonof71 Prenoob Joined: 30/07/2012 21:38:05 Messages: 6 Offline	Hi All, I am having an issue with my board freezing up. There is a loud screech and then all meters freeze and there is no controlling them or getting sound. This is happening at all different time intervals and I can turn off the board and restart but eventually it will freeze again. Doesn't matter if I am hooked into my MacBook or stand alone. I even tried the factory reset but that didn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I think this will need to be sent back for repair.

I had one board that the inrush current limiter Thermistor RT1 on the supply was cracked and supply was intermittent. Unless experienced do not work on the power supply due to lethal voltages present. Try using forced air from a fan to drive cool air into the side vent holes from the right side.

Even if it is out of warrenty, it is only less than 200 bucks to get it serviced by presonus, and they give you another one year warrenty after that. It is worth it. I've had mine serviced for what sounds like the same kind of issue years ago and still kicking every weekend. Steve

At one point in time it was $175 to have a 16.4.2 service by presonus in baton rouge, no mater what the problem. I assume they still have the same rates and service center, I sent mine back twice, but they were both within the warrenty timeframe so it was free for me. Three pages worth of problems with no solution. Here I have a board built in 2013 and have the current firemware into a really good Lenovo laptop. Same problem, worked two days then froze up. -- The upper right hand corner of the board has 7 light panels. The Second GR is red all the way down. No sound going in or coming out of the board. I have placed a ticket with one response that was of no help. I have tried everything - reboot, return to factory presets, re-install firmware, start the mixer first the the computer, stood on my head and whistle Dixie. Nothing, nada. I am totally disappointed in Presonus. They make a good product that dies and can't be brought back to life. After 3 years the same issue exist that should have been fixed a long time ago. How do you get them to answer a request? I live in Baton Rouge. I know where there office is... Me thinks a trip there may be the answer or at least a beginning, Any other ideas? ra

Cost for repair is $175.00, unless under warranty of course. Make sure your board is registered online here as well to help facilitate your request for service.

When I initially started using Studio One 3 it ran without any issues, however I've since started having screen freezing issues. I'm curious if this is a bug, or if anyone else out there is having similar issues an might have a fix.
When I load a project, initially everything works great, but as soon as i click anywhere on the timeline, open the mixer, or click in the browser my screen freezes. The audio in the background will still play, but everything visible is at a stand-still. From there, if i click on my start icon, or any other window, S1v3 will run perfectly in the background. I can see all the meters running, but as soon as I click back on Studio One 3 to display as the 'main' window the screen freezes again.
Occasionally, if I restart my PC 3-5 times it will open a project without the freezing issue.
Running on Windows 7

Exactly same issues here, running Win 7 64 bit, i7, 16GB Ram and latest Matrox video card.
Back on Studio One Pro v2, never ever had any issues with v2.

This is something that is worth trying out for those on windows.
1. Switch off Windows Aero so you have the standard version, or you can go further and use basic from the personalisation options.
2. If you are using a multicore system, disable one of the cores in Studio One 3 to free up the CPU. ( Enable when you want to export your projects or maxing out your CPU to see how demanding your track is)
These two things should significantly improve the graphic performance of Studio One and windows which you move around. This is provide that your system isn't using any CPU throttling, or power saving features.
The graphics card is still dependent on the CPU as they work together so freeing up a CPU pipeline lets the system breath, balancing things out on the graphic side of things helps also.

Just curious, are you using Two display monitors?
I have the same issues as you describe but only when I have any of Studio One 3 windows on the second display.
I've had a ticket in for weeks and they say it is a bug and had been logged but no time frame or promises it will get fixed.

Two display user here, I get the freeze's, and for me it mainly happens after a save. Also it doesn't have to be heavily loaded track, I have had it happen on a scratch track with just a guitar and vocal.
I will say it is not a regular occurrence and I really got to the stage where I take no notice and just kill it in task manager. Having learnt my lesson long ago about saving I never lose anything of importance.

I'm having the same issue with W7 x64 with two monitors. Have you found a solution to this issue yet? It's quite annoying.

Happens to me a lot, never had a freeze ever in S2. Windows7/64bit here. I thought maybe it was my Waves plugins causing the freezing, but now I'm not sure.

S1 v3.5 Pro / Ableton Live 9

Anybody knows if this issue is solved in the latest update version 3.1.1?
For the record, my DAW is optimized for audio recording, meaning Windows 7 (64bit) has been tweaked by disabling aero, installing latest video card driver, set to performance, disabling background services etc... so all known tweaks have been applied.
I am using 2 screens. I noticed that the screen freeze does not happen on my office PC which only uses one screen and this one is not even optimized for audio recording. But on the office PC the UAD2 card and other native VST plugins are not installed. In September 2015, the office PC has been upgraded to Windows 10 pro. V3 still seem to work good on this one. Version 3 includes touchscreen capabilities, but it also seems V3 is maybe not optimized for multiple screen setups.
After few weeks I went back to V2.6.0 as the freezes in V3.01 made it impossible to mix properly and efficiently. One of the strong points of Studio One V2 is that it works perfectly for metering, recording functions, midi and VST. Real-time metering and low time delay is essential for quality mixing. Hopefully Presonus will get these essential and basic functions stable in V3 if it is not already fixed in V3.1.1

Workaround
Here it is guys, (mind you I use a mac but have the same issues so you may have to use the Windows alternative)
First
Go to your spotlight ( what ever Windows feature process your computer General search functions)
Drag all of your disks that you use with studio one (loops, etc) to be re Indexed
As your disks are being indexed you will notice meds of the freeze associated with the gui
